April 2009 - Uniloc USA Inc. v. Microsoft Corp. - Uniloc was awarded $388 Million in damages as a result of Microsoft’s infringement of a Uniloc Patent. The patent covers a software registration system that allows software to run on a computer platform only after the registration number has been entered and licensing procedure followed. The patent provides anti-piracy protection that prevents distribution and use of unlicensed software. In September 2009 a Federal judge overturned the verdict. Uniloc filed a notice of appeal on October 13. |
